Advisr
Designing across devices

Alternative platforms
After designing the high-fidelity prototype for Advisr, I took on the challenge of exploring additional use cases for the solution and applied the content to a different platform - an Apple Smart Watch.
Task Selection
Revisiting my Persona, Andrew, I considered what other platforms may be relevant for helping him achieve his overall goal:
“I want a quick and easy way to track where my money is going, so I know where to make adjustments, so I’m spending my money on the things I value the most. Most of all I just want to know how much to save so that I’m on track to hit my goals!”
The mobile app already gives Andrew the ability to know how much he needs to save to stay on track, but could there be a simpler way to identify how much he’s spending in certain areas of his budget? One that allows him to make adjustments quickly and easily? I started to explore potential solutions by developing user stories.
User stories
As a user I want a quick glance of particular expenses in my budget, so I can tell if I’m about to approach my target expenditure for the month.
As a user I want a quick glance of how my overall expenses break down, so I can tell if I’ll have enough saved at the end of the month or am spending disproportionately in certain areas.
Story Board
Creating a number of storyboards allowed me to consider the real life scenarios in which Andrew might interact with other potential formats of the solution. I decided to move forward with an Apple Watch format for Advisr, to give Andrew a quick glance at “how much he has left to spend on his entertainment budget.”
Platform Research - Smart Watch
Allows a user to receive informative notifications that require just a quick glance.
Can use complications that can provide user with a quick glance of important information - for example, they could see a simple budget breakdown, similar to their workout rings.
The user can use voice commands to bring up information.
The user cannot navigate through the whole app, so they will not have a clear view into all their goals or their whole budget breakdown.
Overall, a smart watch appears to be the right solution to address Andrew’s goal of “taking a quick glance of particular expenses in my budget.”

Expanding the Brand
To further explore alternative devices to design for, I created a marketing website for Advisr. I designed a responsive webpage that could be viewed on both desktop and mobile.
The purpose of the marketing website was to highlight the Advisr brand and accurately convey the value proposition of my app. The challenge was to write content in a way that represented the brand, engaged potential users and enticed them to download the app.
I started with the desktop version, as this would allow me to flesh out all the content required on the marketing website to convey a compelling story for the product before adapting the content to fit on a mobile screen.
